A practical workshop was held on the topic "Cultivation of Genetically Modified (Bt) Cotton Varieties, Management of Disease and Pest Resistance and Implementation of Highly Effective Local Intensive Agrotechnology"
A practical seminar was held at the National Center on the topic of "Cultivation of Genetically Modified (Bt) Cotton Varieties, Managing Their Resistance to Diseases and Pests, and Implementing High-Efficiency Local Intensive Agrotechnologies." The seminar featured presentations by National Center Director Shuhrat Otajonov, Senior Advisor Zabardast Bo‘riyev, and Deputy Director Bunyod Mamarahimov.
In his presentation, Shuhrat Otajonov introduced the seminar participants to the strategy for 2025, which focuses on the cultivation of genetically modified (Bt) cotton varieties, managing their resistance to diseases and pests, and implementing high-efficiency local intensive agrotechnologies.
Geneticist Zabardast Bo‘riyev presented the importance of BT technology and its characteristics in cotton varieties. He explained that the global transition to BT technology began in 1996, and due to the fact that the technology was patented, its implementation in our country had not been possible until recently. He also informed that this technology entered our country along with foreign selection.
At the end of the meeting, it was emphasized that staff from regional AKIS and the scientific research stations of the Institute of Cotton Selection, Seed Production, and Agrotechnologies will act as mentors, assisting in the systematic work with farming enterprises to control foreign and local cotton varieties.
