A seminar-training dedicated to the development of the agricultural sector was held in Ferghana

The Minister of Agriculture and Secretary of the Cotton Council under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Ibrohim Abdurakhmonov, paid a working visit to the Fergana region.

As part of the visit, a seminar-training was organized at the Koshtepa District Administration for cluster managers, heads of farmer and dehkan enterprises, as well as industry officials.

At the beginning of the seminar, a dialogue was held with representatives of farmer enterprises, during which the main tasks for the current year were outlined. Particular emphasis was placed on the cleaning of internal irrigation canals and drainage ditches, efficient use of field edges, and preparation of necessary fertilizers.

A specific plan was developed to use fallen leaves as fertilizer instead of burning them, which would enhance soil fertility and help protect the environment. Additionally, the preparation of technical resources for the season was discussed, emphasizing the importance of having functioning agricultural machinery for effective harvesting and crop maintenance.

Following this, the seminar-training continued, focusing on the application of new agro-technologies, efficient land use, concrete lining of irrigation canals, and tree branch pruning to improve productivity. It was highlighted that integrating modern scientific approaches with traditional farming methods can significantly increase yields, but achieving this requires diligent, science-based work.

The importance of considering climate conditions, soil, and water resources when organizing agricultural activities was also noted. The Minister announced that 875.5 thousand hectares would be allocated for cotton cultivation this year, stressing that the adoption of modern technologies is essential.

Achieving high efficiency in cotton farming depends on multiple factors. In this regard, specialists were advised to plant seeds using the 76/10 scheme under film and utilize drip irrigation. Furthermore, the Minister emphasized the necessity of cultivating "BT" cotton varieties, improving resistance to diseases and pests, and introducing local intensive agro-technologies. Scientists explained the key factors to consider when selecting local and foreign cotton varieties, supported by scientific data.

During discussions on the key priorities for cotton growing, grain production, and agricultural product cultivation, it was reiterated that each agricultural official must work directly in the most remote areas to ensure proper organization and execution of agricultural processes.

After the seminar-training, a mobile reception was organized for farmers and cluster enterprise representatives. Specific recommendations were given on protecting the rights of farmers and dehkans, improving working conditions, increasing production efficiency, and resolving existing issues. Each problem was addressed individually, with many issues resolved using a systematic approach.

The Minister, responding to all participant inquiries, emphasized that the new decrees and resolutions signed by the head of state aim to protect farmers' rights, improve their working conditions, and enhance production efficiency.
