Scientific and practical seminars on planting foreign cotton varieties are being held in the regions

In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on "Measures to Increase the Production of Agricultural Products by Utilizing Additional Opportunities of Agricultural Lands," promotional activities were carried out. A meeting was held in the large hall of the district administration, chaired by Askar Javadov, a member of the national working group and head of the Agriculture Department of Bukhara Region, Otabek Muxtorov, head of the Plant Quarantine and Protection Department of the region, and Turgun Boboqulov, deputy head of the district. The meeting was attended by agricultural sector officials, community leaders, and heads of farming households.

At the beginning of the meeting, Askar Javadov emphasized that in accordance with the decree, a new system has been introduced to improve the production of agricultural products along the edges of fields, as well as in household plots, yards, and inner streets of neighborhoods. Under this system, priority will be given to members of low-income families when forming a list of applicants for renting the land on the outskirts. During the meeting, it was also explained that individuals who have not planted crops or produced products on the land for a year will have official reports prepared, and these cases will be submitted to the Agro-Industrial Complex Inspection for penalty enforcement.

It was reported that land parcels that have not been used productively for a year, under permanent use rights, will be presented to the relevant state bodies that allocated these lands. The Agro-Industrial Development and Support Fund will provide subsidies for purchasing "in-vitro" grafted fruit seedlings, covering 50% of the cost, but no more than 25,000 soms per seedling. Commercial banks will allocate resources based on the orders from the Central Bank at the main rate.

Additionally, Otabek Muxtorov, head of the Plant Quarantine and Protection Department of Bukhara Region, emphasized that according to the decree, the Agro-Industrial Development Department will provide necessary seeds, seedlings, fertilizers, chemicals, and other resources required for land development. Furthermore, favorable loans will be granted for the installation of pumps and pipes for water supply, covering up to 50% of expenses, with a grace period of 6 months and a total loan term of 12 months, at a rate 4% higher than the main rate of the Central Bank.

During the meeting, detailed explanations were provided in response to questions raised by farmers and community leaders. Instructions and assignments were given to the heads of relevant organizations for the implementation of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, dated September 30, 2024, PQ-344. Furthermore, recommendations were made by Nodir Yo'ldoshev, head of the Regional "Agro Services" Center, and district specialists regarding the cultivation of foreign cotton varieties based on Chinese technologies, as well as advice on agro-techniques and productivity.
