A Chinese specialist examined the process of growing the seed variety “Xinlu ZAO-78” in Samarkand

The joint observation was conducted by Wu Jian Jun, specialists from China, B. Sulaimanov, Head of Samarkand Oblast Branch of Seed Development Centre. Sulaimanov and Director of Uz. PITI Samarkand ITS Director Kh. Abdurakhmanov.

The first destination was the farm ‘Bobaev Nurli Yerlari’ in Pakhtachin district. Here, a foreign variety is planted on 7 hectares of land, cotton row spacing is 60 cm, with 12-15 seedlings per metre. The current growth status of cotton is good. The next areas were ‘Nodirjon Navrojon Artykov’, ‘Narpai Umar Sher’ of Narpai district, ‘Juma Haitov’ of Kattakorgan district, where foreign varieties were also planted. In the regions, the growth condition of Chinese seedlings in the fields was studied. After that, farmers were interviewed.

During the interview, the question was asked, ‘Why is the development of this variety slow?’ According to the Chinese expert, during the growth process, Chinese seedlings look a little stunted and grow slowly, and their leaf size is also smaller compared to local varieties. At this stage, the seedling's root sprouts underground and tries to get a firm foothold in the soil. After one to one and a half months, the seeds are full of vigour, begin to develop rapidly and become comparable to local varieties.

During the meeting, questions and answers were exchanged between experts and farm representatives. The farm managers were given necessary instructions and recommendations on Xinlu Zao-78 cultivation techniques.
